Aurora Artiaga Rego (1960) is a Doctor in Contemporary History from the University of Santiago de Compostela (1989), with the thesis A confiscation of the province of Pontevedra, 1855-1900, directed by Professor Ramón Villares Paz. She has been a Professor in the Department of History since 1991. She was a visiting professor in the Department of Spanish Language and Civilization at the University of Rennes-2- Haute Bretagne (1988-1989).

Her lines of research are Agrarian history, Contemporary history, the history of Galicia, the History of the environment, the rural world, the birth and consolidation of the Franco regime and the violence developed in the first years of the civil war and dictatorship.
