André Pereira Veríssimo holds a degree in Philosophy (FFB-UCP), a master's degree in Philosophy from FCSH/UNL and in Social Sciences from the University of Vigo, and a PhD in Social Sciences (Communication, Evolutionary Psychology and Ethics) from the University of Vigo (UVigo). He was an assistant researcher at FLUP (Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto): Department of Modern and Contemporary Philosophy, under the supervision of Prof. Maria José Pinto Cantista de la Fonseca (since 1998). Rated ‘Excellent’ by the External Evaluation Committee for the project on the Anthropology of Pain and Suffering at FLUP. This line of research forms the ontological basis for the defence of ‘Village Reason’, analysing the adaptive efficiency of beings in the face of suffering caused by technocratic deterritorialisation. Postgraduate Scholar (1991-1993): FCSH/UNL, Researcher at CEDTUR / CETRAD: Centre for Tourism Development Studies (ISMAI) and CETRAD (uID 4011 of the FCT). The focus on Society, Territory and Resources is fully aligned with the ‘Ethics of the Mountain’, studying the multifunctionality of the territory and the management of the commons. Collaboration at the FDUP (Faculty of Law of the UP): Research in Natural Law and Political Philosophy under the direction of Prof. Paulo Ferreira de la Con, researcher in the Law Department at UNL: New University of Lisbon. He is currently a Visiting University Researcher in the Media and Communication Sector at the State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG), Brazil, and a member of the Research Group ‘History and Ontology of the Present’ in the Department of Philosophy and Society at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.
