Aaron Navia (Lugo, 1983) is an actor and theatre director (BA in Performing Arts from the Universidad Casa Grande in Ecuador). He subsequently completed a Master’s degree in Cultural Services at the USC through the BEME (Bolsa de Excelencia de la Juventud Exterior) programme run by the Xunta de Galicia. During the same academic year, he directed the USC’s theatre workshop in Lugo.

He is currently working on his PhD project in Cultural Studies: memory, identity, territory and language at the USC, under the supervision of Ana Cabana Iglesia. To complement his doctoral studies, he completed a Master’s in Cultural Studies and Visual Arts with a queer/cuir feminist perspective (MUECA) at the Universitas Miguel Hernández, with the support of an IMIO grant from the Ministry of Equality. Her thesis explores possible intersections within the performing arts between Galician and sex-dissident identities, seeking connections between academic research and artistic creation in the Galician context.

As part of his research, he was a beneficiary of the Stella Junior Programme run by the Compostela Group of Universities at La Salle Bajío University (Nov–Dec 2025) in Mexico. He undertook a research placement at the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) in Brazil between May and July 2026, and during the 2026/2027 academic year he will undertake a nine-month placement at Dartmouth College (NH) in the USA as the recipient of a Fulbright pre-doctoral research fellowship.
