Agrobiodiversity Summer School 2022 organized by HISTAGRA

Success of the Agrobiodiversity Summer School 2022 organized by HISTAGRA
Between August 31 and September 10, the Agrobiodiversity Summer School was held in Galicia, jointly organized by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FIBL) and the research group Geography of Food - ZHAW, both Swiss, and the University of Santiago de Compostela through CISPAC and the Histagra research group. The course was held in two main venues, Santiago de Compostela and Ribadeo, and was attended by students from the most diverse areas of knowledge (Agroecology, Agrarian History, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Sciences...) and origins (Switzerland, Hungary , Germany, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, India or the Philippines).
The central objective of this training was to address the different aspects of agrobiodiversity in its ecological, social, political and economic aspects. For this, field trips were organized that made it possible to learn about various initiatives that respond to some of these aspects. The international students were able to understand first-hand the way in which a community of mountains such as Baroña, social inclusion projects such as El Cabillón or experiences of long-standing organic farming, such as As Fadegas, are managed.
The visits were the pillar on which teachers and students shared reflections and shared problems, strengths and potentialities of the different experiences in order to think of new formulas in which to develop sustainable proposals and face the challenges of agrobiodiversity.
