Lecture by the HISTAGRA Researcher and PhD candidate, Rafael García Ferreira: Santiago 1936. Da República ao Coup d'État

This exhibition aims to explain how, in a few days, Santiago went from being a city in full celebrations of the Apostle, in which the Statute of Autonomy of Galicia was still celebrated, to the triumph of the coup d'état. As the streets of Compostela went from being a space of coexistence, struggle and plurality of democracy, to become the scene of fear, persecution and killing. And we want to do it with a new story prepared 80 years ago from that uncomfortable past, made from history and marked by memory, in which news is given in Santiago of everything we know and why we know it.
