Acto de devolución Fosa de Asados (Rianxo)

Handover ceremony for the PMD works at Asados, Rianxo

On 15 April at 11 am at Rianxo Town Hall, a handover ceremony will take place for the reports on the works carried out in 2025 at the Asados burial ground in Rianxo. The aim is to explain to relatives, associations and the public the work carried out in November 2025 at the Asados cemetery.

We will present the final reports on history, archaeology and anthropological-forensic studies, and we will address any questions and comments. The event will be attended by part of the research team, led by researcher Antonio Miguez, and will be chaired by the Mayor of Rianxo, Julián Bustelo.

The four-year plan incorporates three fundamental strategic lines of public policy on Democratic Memory intended to be developed over the period (2025–2028), although its objectives are subject to annual review.

These strategic lines are:

Locating and exhuming mass graves and identifying victims.

Publicising the work carried out and the results achieved.

Surveying burial sites and promoting places of remembrance

On behalf of the USC, through the Histagra Group, Professor of Contemporary History Lourenzo Fernández Prieto and Dr Antonio Miguez Macho, a professor of history, coordinate a research team comprising archaeologists led by USC professor Jose Carlos Sánchez Pardo, IMELGA forensic anthropologist Fernando Serrulla Rech, and the genetics team from the ‘Luis Concheiro’ Institute of Forensic Sciences led by María Victoria Lareu.

The work carried out in 2025 was as follows:

Location, exhumation and identification of victims:

Luou mass grave (Teo)

Asados mass grave (Rianxo)
