O obxectivo do Congreso Knowledge networks in rural Europe since 1700 é dar a coñecer, difundir e estudar os avances que no investigación histórica se está a levar a cabo no sector agrícola e no agro. A súa finalidade é a investigación e a reflexión crítica sobre o coñecemento do mundo rural desde unha perspectiva innovadora: as redes.
Segundo os sociólogos Van Dijk e Castells, vivimos nunha "sociedade en rede" dirixida por novos medios de comunicación e difusión do coñecementos. É revelador analizar como os sitios e os portadores de coñecemento rural e agrícola (individuos, grupos, institucións, medios de comunicación) en Europa estaban conectados entre si e co mundo non-rural e como influíron entre si.

Os membros de HISTAGRA, Lourenzo Fernández Prieto, Miguel Cabo Villaverde, Daniel Lanero Táboas, Alba Díaz-Geada e Beatriz Corbacho González, estarán presentes no congreso cos seguintes traballos:
