Lourenzo Fernández Prieto. Professor of Contemporary History USC. Elected President of the SEHA

 

The professor of the University of Santiago de Compostela, Lourenzo Fernandez Prieto, Director of CISPAC and IP of the HISTAGRA Group has been elected president of the Society for the Study of Agrarian History, SEHA. Editor of the journal Historia Agraria

 

The SEHA is a Euro-American scientific association whose aims are to promote research, academic exchange, teaching and dissemination of scientific knowledge concerning agricultural history, rural economy and society from an interdisciplinary perspective; to foster the conservation and facilitate the consultation of archives and materials relating to agricultural activities and rural societies throughout history; and to promote the internationalisation of agricultural history by facilitating coordination with researchers and research groups from different countries. In Europe this connection is made through the European Rural History Organization (EURHO) and in Latin America and Luso-Brazil with an internationalized directive of co-management of the SEHA among researchers from different countries. 

 

SEHA has more than 200 members from Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico and other countries. Its Board of Directors includes representatives of six nationalities and publishes the journal Historia Agraria. Journal of agriculture and rural history. Historia Agraria is one of the most reputed journals in the world in Agricultural and Rural History: in 2021: Q 1, in AHCI (Arts & Humanities Citation Index), Journal Citation Indicator (JCI) of 1.33 (percentile, 82.18%) position 88/491; The Journal Impact Factor (JIF) of 0.773 places it in Q2 of SSCI 34/102 (and percentile 67.16%). Ranked among the top 20 in the world in History, it is published in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

 

Lourenzo Fernández Prieto replaces Professor Manuel González de Molina, Professor of Contemporary History at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Seville).
