HISTAGRA PI Lourenzo Fernández Prieto joins the RAG as a full member on June 3rd

 

Lourenzo Fernández Prieto (A Devesa-Ribadeo, 1961) will join the Royal Galician Academy as a full member on Saturday 3 June. The extraordinary public session will take place in the Jofre Theatre in Ferrol, the city where he grew up, from 12:00 noon onwards. The Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Santiago de Compostela will read a speech entitled La memoria, la historia y la política. La olvidada polémica Celda versus Paz-Andrade sobre la legitimidad democrática, la memoria republicana y la Autonomía de Galicia en julio de 1977, which will be answered on behalf of the institution by the coordinator of the History Section, Ramón Villares. Lourenzo Fernández Prieto will fill the vacancy created in 2020 by the death of the poet Luz Pozo Garza.
