Disidentes sexuais na Galiza contemporánea is an informative book that compiles stories and memories of people who lived on the other side of the sexual norm in Galicia over the last 150 years. Through archival and journalistic sources, it reflects on some of the itineraries that these people had to follow and their confrontation with the yoke of an obligatory sexuality that condemned them to the margins and ostracism. This book starts with the awareness that leaving the space in which history placed sexual dissidents is an essential step when it comes to articulating an LGBT memory in Galicia today. To this end, the development of the work does not focus on an exhaustive account of sexual and gender dissidence in each of the periods investigated, but rather these are configured as small windows from which the stories and memories of diverse people are extracted.

Daniela Ferrández (Almoradí, 1988) holds a PhD in History (2013 UA) and a Master's degree in Contemporary History (2014 USC). Her thesis deals with political clientelism in the Restoration from a comparative perspective (Galicia-Valencian Community). The title was: New and old actors: political clientelism and local power in comparative perspective (1905-1936). She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the USC through the Margarita Salas call for applications.

 

Her research interests are political clientelism during the first third of the 20th century; the democratisation of rural society and Franco's repression.
