HISTAGRA in the conference "As Brañas de Laíño, mudanzas impostas"

Dodro hosts on Tuesday, May 25, the conference "As Brañas de Laíño, mudanzas impostas". Over the last year, the HISTAGRA Group of the University of Santiago de Compostela, and the Ría Foundation carried out the Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory project. This pioneering action-research, which has the support of the Santander Foundation, paid special attention to the Brañas de Laiño, as this was a communal space in the past.

This project looks to the past and present of the local communities to promote the sustainable use of the future, under this premise it has published the collective work When we were sustainable. Learning the keys to the future at Barbanza, which can be downloaded for free on the web https://barbanzaecosocial.org/. This publication collects information from residents of Dodro who related the past and present relationship with the brañas, a work that seeks not only to reconstruct the memory of the community, but to think about it in terms of ecosocial transition: what about the past that can be recovered to contribute to a socio-ecological transition in the territory.

In addition to the presentation of the publication and the debate, the call for Semilla projects will be presented at the event, with which the Laboratory will support with a maximum of € 15,000 those projects that support the sustainability of the territory. The public day will take place on Tuesday, May 25, at the Dodro municipal pavilion starting at 7 p.m. and will be attended by the mayor of Dodro, Xavier Castro, and the promoters of the project, the professor in agrarian history at USC Lourenzo Fernández. Prieto, the USC researcher David Fontán, and the members of the Ría Foundation, Manuel Gonzalez and Adrian Capelo
