New publication of the HISTAGRA Group. 1936. A new story
Thirteen authors create "1936, a new story", a collective work that defines the bases for building a new story about a past as uncomfortable as that of the Civil War.
In 2016, an international congress was held in Santiago de Compostela that under the title "1936 A New Story? 80 years, between history and memory" various specialists in civil war, violence and dictatorship, and from different areas of the social sciences, they debated for several days an extensive program where new academic concerns about the war and its study were brought to the table.

From that congress, and after several work meetings, some of the participants managed to build this publication, of collective authorship through a new collaborative way of working. The HISTAGRA Group, which has already carried out works of this type, is extremely satisfied with the work, waiting for it to be of interest and utility to the public.
About the publication:
In this book we want to define the bases to build a new story because the available one, the dominant one, does not convince us: he went from victory to reconciliation, he found the victims but he is not yet capable of looking at the executioners or of placing superiority. of democracy against the dictatorship. How to face the period of war and dictatorship in the public consciousness of the present is a greater challenge that calls into question the historical and political identity of the current Kingdom of Spain. Despite the passage of time, forty plus forty years, a story of civil war built on the victory and defeat of its protagonists continues to dominate. On his experience, interests, positions and political explanations. A story ultimately managed by the victors: remodeled and accommodated to successive presents. Winners in the war and in the story of victory. Theirs is the tale of the executioners
