Mulleres Bravas: defending the commons in Galicia and Honduras: María Esther Velásquez, Maygra Isabel Guevara and Mónica Cea

Next Thursday, 5 March, at 7 p.m. the Granell Foundation (Praza do Toural, s/n) will host the round table discussion Mulleres Bravas: defending the common good in Galicia and Honduras: María Esther Velásquez, Maygra Isabel Guevara and Mónica Cea, organised as part of the Granell American Encounters developed by the HISTAMERICA Research Group and, on this occasion, in collaboration with HISTAGRA.

The event, presented by professors Eduardo Rey (HISTAMERICA) and Stefania Barca (HISTAGRA), will be attended by María Esther Velásquez and Maygra Isabel Guevara Cruz (Namasigüe, Honduras), and Mónica Cea from Ulloa (Galicia).

Muleres Bravas is a joint project between Amigas da Terra and Ingeniería sin Fronteras (Engineers Without Borders) as a meeting point for activists from Honduras and Galicia. The project is committed to weaving networks of solidarity, recognising the role of women as defenders of the territory. The conversations address the productive model, sustainability and equality, understanding that environmental defence is also a matter of social justice. The experiences of the Global South and rural Galicia are brought into dialogue. Mulleres Bravas is not just a project: it is a living fabric of shared voices, affections and learning.

The American Encounters at Granell aim to provide an open space for dialogue, ideas, debate and reflection on America through a programme of monthly conferences addressing cultural, political, social, economic and current affairs topics of public interest and an informative nature.
