Book presentation: TERRA A NOSSA! Discurso e identidade agrária na Galiza moderna (1875–1936)

TERRA A NOSSA! Discurso e identidade agrária na Galiza moderna (1875–1936)

Next June 5th at 19:00 will take place the presentation of the book, TERRA A NOSSA! Discurso e identidade agrária na Galiza moderna (1875-1936), by the Galician historian and former member of HISTAGRA, Antom Santos, will be presented at the Faculty of Geography and History. In addition to the author, HISTAGRA's PI, Lourenzo Fernández Prieto, will participate in the presentation.

Terra a Nossa!” was one of the most recurrent and significant slogans of Galicia in the first third of the 20th century, a collective flag that implicitly recognized the agrarian origins of the different class strata and cultural spheres. Perhaps its origins lie in the Rosalian poem that, with this title, appears in Follas Novas: a portrait of the sufferings of peasant Galicia and, at the same time, the exaltation of the landscapes and the language that were despised in the dominant Spanish image.
