‘Until their total extermination. La guerra antipartisana en España, 1936-1952’ is a critical review of what happened during the years of violence against Republican resistance fighters (1936-1952), a time of repression and extermination of the guerrillas, focusing on the repressors, especially the Guardia Civil, who persecuted any hint of rebellion against the coup d'état and the subsequent dictatorial regime: ‘To the enemies in the countryside we must wage war without quarter until we achieve their total extermination, and as their actions are facilitated by their accomplices, abettors and confidants, with them we must follow the identical system. ’ These are the words of Eliseo Álvarez-Areas, director general of the Civil Guard in 1941.
